I’m soooo excited to reveal that my online course, How to Use AI for Your Book Proposal Without It Using You is LIVE!!
You’re the first to hear about it!
What This Course Isn’t
This class is NOT about how to let AI write your book proposal or any part of your book proposal! AI-generated book proposals feel like they’re AI-generated. No one is going to buy your book if you have AI write the proposal.
In fact, I suggest that you don’t share any of your own material with AI. Anything you input will be used by AI when it answers other people’s questions. DON’T give your work away to AI for free.
Instead, USE AI for your own benefit.
What This Course IS
The course is made up of 10 lessons, each with a video and a downloadable PDF. It’s all about how to use AI for research, language refinement, idea generation, and clarification of your message.
The course starts out talking about what AI is, how to use it ethically, why you need it, and how it will help you as you write your book proposal. And I talk about how NOT to use it and the problems to be aware of when you are using it. The second lesson delves into how AI can help you come up with or refine book ideas.
I then walk you through every section of your proposal and show you prompts to use to get the data, information, and mental kickstarts you need. You’ll see me input prompts into AI and see what I get back. You can download my prompts for your own use.
The class concludes with lessons about using AI for finding an agent or a publisher.

Why You Need This Class
AI is not going away. If you want to keep it from taking your place as a writer, you need to learn how to leverage it for your own gain.
AI is a tool you can use, just like you use Google, to find information, do research, help you think, and give you ideas to build upon.
Think about what it was like for people who wrote books before Google. They had to go to the library and find books, magazines, newspapers, and other material sto locate the information they needed. If they needed help thinking of a word, they had to pull a thesaurus off the shelf. Sometimes, research required phone calls or actually going places.
Then Google came along, and much of that became much easier. People were skeptical, but now almost no one can function without Google. It made so many things so much easier.
AI is going to be the same. There’s a huge outcry about it right now, and yes, there are definitely ethical questions and issues, but all the leading experts are predicting that we’re going to use AI for almost everything within 10 or 20 years. Don’t get left behind.
Why would you not use a tool that can make you better at what you do without sacrificing your own creativity and unique voice? Again, I am not teaching you how to use AI to write your book proposal. You are doing all of the uniquely human, creative work on this. But just as using a computer made life so much easier compared to using a typewriter, AI is going to give you new abilities, speed, accuracy, and a boost that your competition does not have.
My Credentials
I’ve worked in the publishing industry for 25+ years and written more than 40 of my own books which have been traditionally published and self-published. I work as an editor for publishers like Amplify Publishing and Lucid House Publishing, and I’m an editor and coach through KN Literary Arts. I also have a roster of my own clients.
Many authors I have worked with have won awards. Some have traditionally published. Some have used hybrid publishers. Some have self-published. I’ve worked on all kinds of fiction and non-fiction books, as well as children’s books and memoir.
I have taken many courses about AI through Google, the Knight Center for Journalism, LinkedIn, and on various other online course platforms. I have edited AI-generated content for clients.
I firmly believe it’s time to learn how to use AI ethically and responsibly in your writing, without compromising your values, creativity, and special sauce.

Agents Seeking Writers
Here’s a post from Published to Death with 10 new agents seeking writers to represent.
In My World
I just started a new editing project in that is actually about AI, so AI is on my brain constantly. I’m meeting with a new client tomorrow to start work on her memoir.
I harvested the first lettuce from our garden the other night and hope that I’ll have peas and strawberries soon. Summer is most definitely here.
Obsessed With…
I binged the second season of America’s Sweethearts, about the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. It’s brain candy I can’t get enough of. Next up, I’m going to dive into The Gilded Age, which is back with a new season.
My current food obsession is soft serve ice cream. I’m all about it in the summer, and my favorite place is an hour drive away. A dish of chocolate soft serve is simply ALL I want to eat at this time of year.
Good Goods
Ok, so this is slightly ridiculous, but lately I’ve been hooked on Oui yogurt which comes in the cutest little glass pots. I’ve previously written about how I’m trying to switch to glass food containers, and I couldn’t help but think these little glass pots would be great for storage for small amounts of food or sauce. Except they don’t have a lid. Well, I discovered a set of silicone lids that fit them perfectly! I got 10 of them for $12 and now I have an excuse to buy more Oui yogurt - I need the containers!
Sounds like a great course! Is there a link where we can see prices?
